Our Adoption Journey

See Mia's Movie!! (takes a while to download)

Welcome!

We created this site as a means for family and friends to learn more about our adoption journey, and to follow us as we moved through the process to be united with our first daughter, Mia. We began this process in October of 2002, with our paperwork (dossier) finally arriving in China in May of 2003. From there our dossier went through review and was eventually matched in January 2004 with the paperwork and photo of a sweet baby who needed a family. We are in love with precious little Mia Zhen Zhen!  In November 2004, we saw the face of a sweet 9 year old girl who needed a family. We submitted a letter of intent to adopt Yan Yan and hope to travel summer of 2005 to bring her home.

Romans 8:15  For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but you have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba Father.

God has adopted us into His family through a relationship with His son. As our Father, God gives to us love, forgiveness, blessings, hope, and discipline. May we be to Mia and Yan Yan a reflection of God's grace.

Dear Sweet Daughters,

As a girl I had a common dream, to be a mom someday.   My baby would have eyes of blue and hair the hue of hay.

But now my dreams have been transformed.  New visions fill my head.  Now the tresses that I long to stroke are raven black instead.

And in my dreams those eyes are not so big or blue or round.  Now in my dreams they're almond shaped and colored cocoa brown.

And in my dreams my arms can stretch across enormous seas.  They reach half-way around the world and hold you close to me.

As you grow in your mother's womb, carefully knit together, you're also growing in my heart, where you will stay forever.

And in my dreams the moment that your mother says good-bye, I'll be right there to comfort you and hold you as you cry.

Our features may not look alike; we're different as can be.  But still I know the Father has created you for me.

And though I've not yet seen your face, or held your tiny hands, and though we're half a world apart in very different lands,

I'll be right there to get you just as soon as God allows.  But 'til He says the time is right I give to you this vow.

I'll pray for your protection every day on bended knee.  For God to hold you in His arms, until you're here with me.
